Week 1- Thurs. Jan. 10 -Regulatory Agencies (PAL-1)- IATA, ICAO
Week 2- Mon. Jan. 14- FAA Enforcements (PAL- 2)-Hoover time limits, ASRP, stale complaint rule, administrative action, informal conference, re-examination, lifetime revocation, double jeopardy, burden of proof, NASA and exceptions
Week 3- Mon. Jan. 21- HOLIDAY NO CLASS
Week 4- Thurs. Jan. 31- Negligence/Torts/ General Liability (PAL-Ch. 4,) Aircraft Accidents & Reporting (PAL-10) GARA and exceptions, Statute of Repose, reasonable man standard, assumption of the risk, negligent entrustment, proximate cause, conversion, Vicarious liability, attractive nuisance, duty of landowners to trespassers/licensees/invitees.
Week 5- Mon. Feb. 4- Negligence ,Strict Liability & Products Liability, compensatory and punitive damages, independent contractor vs. employee, comparative vs. contributory negligence.
Week 6- Mon. Feb. 11th- Govt. Liability (PAL-Ch.9) Government Contractor Defense/Boyle, FTCA, discretionary function, preemption doctrine.
Week 7- Mon. Feb. 18 - EXAM #1 -covering weeks 1-6 (Chapters 1, 2, 4, 9 & 10)
Week 8- Mon. Feb. 25- .Crimes and Aviation Security (PAL-15)- Homeland Security, TSA Feres/FTCA, Airport Security Federalism Act, ATSSS Act
Week 9- Thurs. Feb. 28- Insurance (PAL-Ch.6)
Week 10- Mon. March 10- AC Ownership & Forms of Business (PAL 5, 11,12) Exculpatory Contracts (PAL 7)
Week 11—Mon. March 17- SPRING BREAK- NO CLASS
Week 12- Mon. Mar. 24- Aviation Medical (PAL-3) Airline Liability (PAL-8)
Week 13- Mon. April 7- Airports & Airspace (PAL-Ch. 13) Labor Law (PAL 16-17) Homebuilt Aircraft
Week 14- April 12- REVIEW
Week 15- Mon. April 14- EXAM #2 Wks 9-14;PAL 3, 5-8, 11-13,16-17
Week 16- Monday April 21- CUMULATIVE FINAL EXAM (4:00-7:00pm)
NO MAKEUP EXAMS UNLESS YOU ARE IN THE HOSPITAL. You can always make arrangements to take an exam early. Credit will be given for class participation. Each exam is worth 33% of your final grade. Extra credit is always available to anyone wanting to raise their final grade.
